Elon Musk has said he will hold a press conference on Wednesday to discuss the health of his company Tesla Motors and the state of the US economy.
The White House said Musk would hold a “press briefing” to discuss “Tesla’s financial and economic health.”
A White House official said Musk had not yet made any announcements regarding the press conference.
Musk, the billionaire founder and CEO of the electric car maker Tesla, is currently the target of a criminal investigation into alleged mismanagement, securities fraud and securities violations related to Tesla, according to the Wall Street Journal.
He is being investigated by the US Department of Justice for allegedly defrauding investors and consumers of more than $1 billion, the Journal reported in January.
Last week, Musk said he was considering leaving Tesla after the FBI said it was investigating the electric automaker’s finances.
The report is likely to fuel a public relations fire for Musk, who has made his name as a vocal critic of President Donald Trump.
He has faced criticism from the president over the company’s financial performance, which has come under scrutiny for a number of months, including in the US Senate, where the Senate voted to strip the company of federal tax incentives.
Musko also faced criticism last month after he said the US should move away from fossil fuels to make room for renewable energy.
